The college conducted its Annual Sports Day celebration on 12th April, 2023 in the campus. The programme began at 10 a.m. with an invocation. The chief guest for the programme was Dr. V. Mahdevan, Director Physical Education of the University of Madras.

The college principal Dr, V. Shantha, honoured the chief guest and spoke on the occasion. The welcome address was given by Mr. Chidambaranathan, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science. The chief guest gave presidential address.

The Sports Day report was given by Mr. U. Saravana Kumar, the physical director of Sri Muthukumaran Arts and Science College. The college alumni, Mr. Dharma Teja of Business Administration department represented India in the international games held in Korea and performed his skill in Yoga was honoured on this occasion.

Dr. N. Indrajith, Head of the Department of Mathematics, has given a special address about the programme. The distinguished chief guest, beloved principal, the physical director, and various department HODs distributed certificates, medals and trophies to the winners and participants of both Shift I & Shift II.

The College celebrated its Cultural Day “Kurinji Saral” on 12th April 2023 from 2 p.m. onwards in the college campus.

The programme began with an invocation followed by lighting the Kuthuvilakku. The welcome address was given by Mrs. C. Monigeetha, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics.

The chief guests on the occasion were Mrs. Nalina Mathivanan of Narthana Kalaikoodam, Mr. Naveen John, Drums master; Mr. Vicky Aldam of Kalakka Povathu Yaru, Mr. A. Seenu, Choreographer; and Silambam Karthik Raja. The college principal, Dr. V. Shantha honoured the chief guests with memento and gave special address to the students.

The Programme began with the introduction to chief guest by Mr. M. Jeeva, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce followed by reading the annual report.

Dr. N. Indrajith, Head of the Department of Mathematics, spoke on the occasion. After the formal function, the cultural programme began for students. The cultural events include, solo and group dance, solo and group singing, mime, and musical instruments.

Good morning to everyone, I extend a very warm and hearty welcome to this happiest occasion of our college day celebration. It is my great privilege to present the annual report for the academic year 2021-2022.

This institution, Sri Muthukumaran Arts and Science College was founded by Sri Muthukumaran Educational Trust, functioning under the managing trustee of our college Mrs. Gomathi Radhakrishnan. Sri Muthukumaran Arts and Science College was started in the year 2001-2002 with noble ideal of imparting knowledge to the younger generation only with 35 students, we wished to inculcate in younger minds, noble thoughts, sense of discipline and a spirit of dedication for a proper perspective about life. With these objectives, our college was started only with three courses, B.Sc Computer Science, BCA and B.Com in the academic year 2001-2002 after affiliation from the University of Madras.

Now, our college has grown as a great tree of knowledge and wisdom with many branches. This academic year our institution started functioning with various departments like B.Sc (CS), BCA, B.Com (G), B.A (Eng), B.Sc (Maths), B.Sc (physics), B.Com (A/F), BBA and M.Com in shift I with 1400 students. B.Com (CS), B.Com (G), B.Com (CA), B.Com (BM), BBA and B.A Tamil with 400 students in shift II.

A sad occasion for the Muthukumaran family was the sudden demise of our beloved chairman Shri A.N Radhakrishnan which left a deep void to the group of institutions. Our Institution had a very tight schedule of academic activity this year. Academic achievements of the students were assessed by cycle test, model examination and terminal examination regularly. The progresses of the students were communicated to the parent, special classes and remedial classes were also taken by our teaching faculty for below average students. Our college students were benefitted with (SC/ST) Scholarships sanctioned by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Some Philanthropist organizations also came forward to help economical weak students.

Association Activities

Our students eagerly participated in the Department Association Programs and competitions like Quiz, Debate, Ad-Zap, Paper Presentation and Oratorical competitions.

Sports

Our students have been given ample facilities to show their potential in sports area. Our youngsters participated in Throw Ball, Volley Ball, Kabbadi, Cricket, Track Events, KhoKho, etc. and won prizes in both Inter- and Intra-college level.

Faculties have also participated in sports with full strength and vigour.

Culturals

Our students participated in various inter-college competitions like mime, dance, singing, etc. and demonstrated their talents in an outstanding manner. They won prizes for the same because of their competence.

Placement

Our college students attended campus interviews and got placements in various reputed companies like Piramal, Cap Gemini, Sutherland, Wipro, Cognizant, etc. Communication classes are conducted in our college for students to excel their skills to improve in English.

NSS/YRC/RRC

Various awareness programs like First Aid Training Program, Orientation program, Blood Donation camp, Fire Safety Demo were conducted in our college through National Service.

Teacher’s Day

Our college students celebrated Teacher’s Day to entertain the teachers. We celebrated Independence Day and Republic Day by paying tribute to our freedom fighters and National leaders.

Pongal Vizha

Pongal Vizha was celebrated in our college with great enthusiasm. Cultural programs and competition were also conducted. The best performers were given prizes.

Muthamizh Vizha

Muthamizh Vizha was conducted by the Department of Tamil. The function was conducted in three different sessions such as Iyal, Isai and Nadagam.

Competition was also conducted and prizes were distribution to the winners.

Results

I am happy to state that our students have done extremely well during the University of Examination. The pass percentage has been excellent. I congratulate the faculty and students.

Staff Achivement

Staff members are encouraged to present papers, publish articles and attend conferences and symposium. In our college, 25 staff members produced 100 percentage results.
